NVOCCS & LCL Customers Reap the Benefits of the INTTRA Network
Recently, the INTTRA network was extended to enable all forwarders and shippers with access to its e-commerce portal for FCL and LCL shipments, making it easier for NVOCCs to receive bookings and shipping instructions from their shippers.
Taggart, a transportation and trade management company which deals with U.S. imports and exports, as well as North American logistics, has been using the INTTRA ACT Portal for its LCL ocean shipments with Econocaribe Consolidators, a leading global NVOCC. An INTTRA user for over a year, Taggart has seen the value first hand of using e-commerce solutions for its FCL and LCL shipments. By using the INTTRA platform for both, Taggart can consolidate its logistics processes to save time and money.
Brian Danley, export assistant manager at Taggart, found the INTTRA platform to be both easy to learn and easy to use. Now, with the ability to send LCL shipping instructions to Econocaribe for his client’s shipments, Danley is finding it even easier to complete his logistics processes and evaluate the status of his shipments. By having ocean shipment information consolidated into one platform, Taggart can take a quick glance at the INTTRA dashboard to view vital information on accepted, pending and rejected ocean shipping instructions.
In addition to the value of a consolidated ocean shipping process for multiple carriers and NVOCCs, Danley has found further timesaving benefits from using the INTTRA platform. “Entering shipping instructions has always been a time intensive task”, said Danley. “Now, with the INTTRA platform, I am able to save templates which contain information that I can then access for other similar shipments. This saves me a lot of time and makes the process much more accurate since I only have to enter the information that has changed.”
Also, before INTTRA, it took several emails to send and finalize the shipping instructions, usually with a delay of at least several days before any revisions were accepted. INTTRA allows the user to cut and paste the information directly into the platform field, making revisions much more efficient and faster to accept. “I anticipate revisions for LCL shipments to be much easier to finalize with the INTTRA system than they were manually without it. The benefits I receive from using the INTTRA ACT Portal for LCL are the same for FCL shipments”, said Danley.
With over 450,000 container orders initiated on the INTTRA platform each week, representing more than 14 percent of global ocean container trade, INTTRA broadens its value by offering both LCL and FCL e-commerce with one INTTRA connection. Through the INTTRA network, NVOCCs and their shippers benefit from a multi-carrier/NVOCC solution, streamlined business process and increased visibility.
